Organization VOLONTE CZECH o.p.s. in cooperation with Prison Service of the Czech Republic and a non-profit organization Yellow ribbon z. s. held a special Children's Day in Kynsperk nad Ohří Prison. The event took place on October 19 and was intended for the children of convicted parents. The goal of this initiative is to enable children who grow up without one of their parents to experience joyful moments in the presence of their family members, while promoting the social inclusion of these families.
“Actions like this are extremely important because they allow children to spend time with their parents in a special, positive environment where they can feel safe and loved,” stated Barbora Cernoškova, patroness of the children of incarcerated parents.
“Children's Day, or any family activity that a convict may participate in, is the greatest motivation to correct him. Such a day is special for the whole family, brings hope and significantly strengthens relationships. It is at such moments that the future for children and their families takes on a new meaning.” says Tina Chlupacova, mentor, VOLONTÉ CZECH o.p.s..
Children's days have been held in Kynšperk nad Ohří Prison for the last five years, thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic. In total, it can be estimated that around 150 children took part in the events. Children's Day itself is also preceded by preparation on the part of fathers, the strengthening of communication skills, forms of communication, as well as the preparation of gifts for children. The projects also included equipping outdoor children's corners at the prison.
